We’ll follow the International Film Festival Rotterdam - Art Directions during our third 10.000 Steps Art Walk Rotterdam. A unique opportunity for us to use the film festival, that takes over town for 10 days, as inspiration. The themes influenced us in designing a wonderful route, connecting different festival locations. We stop on the way for inspiration. Sneak previews of art installations by the Quay Brothers and The Ummah Chroma. Get lost in translation, experience a productive notion of waiting, kinetic lights and sound. Visit galleries for the expo ‘Like Sunlight coming through the Clouds: 30 years of Polaroid photography’ by Robby Müller and meet a gallerist who contributed to the ‘art directions’ in the past and see ‘I, The Green Marble: The (Hi)story Of My Witness and Memory’. Join us to explore and see Rotterdam with different eyes, meet nice people and expect the unexpected. Foretastes of international art as part of the festival, some great public art on the way, inside stories by a festival tiger and a homage to poet J.A. Deelder, will influence us as if we are actors in a city that can't be filmed, as Rotterdam is way too real! We start at De Doelen. This walk will take longer as usually as we stop many times on the way, but we will make the full 10.000 steps heading Southwards to the Wilhelminapier. There wil be a drink / snack break in between (at your own expense). The walk supported by CBK Rotterdam. /
We volgen het International Film Festival Rotterdam - Art Directions programma tijdens onze derde 10.000 Steps Art Walk Rotterdam. Een unieke kans voor ons om het filmfestival, dat onze stad 10 dagen lang overneemt, als inspiratie te gebruiken. De thema's hebben ons beïnvloed bij het ontwerpen van een verrassende route, waarmee we verschillende festivallocaties verbinden in de stad. We stoppen onderweg voor inspiratie. Kijk je bij kunstinstallaties van bijvoorbeeld de Quay Brothers en The Ummah Chroma. Miscommunicatie ligt altijd op de loer, ervaar het wachten, kinetisch licht en geluid. Galeriebezoeken voor de expo ‘Like Sunlight coming through the Clouds: 30 jaar Polaroid-fotografie’ van Robby Müller en we maken kennis met een galeriehouder - die in het verleden een bijdrage leverde aan het filmfestival 'art directions' programma - en zien daar ‘I, The Green Marble: The (Hi)story Of My Witness and Memory’. Ga mee voor een bijzondere ervaring, zie Rotterdam met andere ogen, ontmoet vriendelijke mensen, persoonlijke verhalen van een échte festivaltijger, internationale kunst, kunstinstallaties en kunst in de publieke ruimte. Dit, en eerbetoon aan dichter J.A. Deelder beïnvloedt onderweg, alsof we acteren in een stad. ‘Rotterdam is niet te filmen, Rotterdam is veels te echt.’ De wandeling begint bij De Doelen en duurt langer dan gewoonlijk omdat we onderweg geregeld stoppen. Geen zorgen!, we lopen alle 10.000 stappen uit richting de Wilhelminapier. Drankje / snack pauze (op eigen kosten).
